Meet Me At The River

2022, A novel by Jay Stielstra

The small Upper Peninsula town featured in Meet Me At The River, a novel by Jay Stielstra, is a fictional place but yoopers that have read the novel swear they know it.  They say the characters, the small town institutions, the local tavern, the changing seasons - all feel like home.

Meet Me At The River follows the story of John L. Lewis, who grew up in Winston, the fictional town that would be located about 20 miles south of Munising.  When a young John L. finds a dead body in the woods, his life changes forever.

Like North Country Opera and many of Jay's other works, the story includes vivid descriptions of northern Michigan's natural beauty, time spent fly-fishing, sitting in the town tavern, and falling in love.
