North Country Opera: Recorded Live at The Ark - Premier Screening

Hundreds attend the “Plaid Carpet” event at the Michigan Theater

For forty years, audience after audience watched Jay’s most popular musical play, North Country Opera, performed live on a theater stage. On November 13, 2023, an audience watched it on a big screen for the first time.

North Country Opera toured northern Michigan in October 2022 in honor of the play’s 40th anniversary. The tour played to sold-out audiences and ended with a full house at the Ark in Ann Arbor. That final performance was recorded, and was screened for the first time a year later at the historic Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Several hundred plaid-clad attendees turned out for the event.

The recording is also available on DVD or to stream on YouTube.

All profits generated from North Country Opera: Live at The Ark will be donated to organizations that support Michigan’s performing arts and environmental conservation.
